Oh boy it'sThursday......?

Nothing but good news tonight. It rained this afternoon. Not much, but it dropped the temperature about fifteen degrees, from about 101 on my thermometer. It has been hot. It has also been dry. I can not remember a June so dry, and I am not the only one. It has been miserable without the afternoon thunderstorms......I just checked my spring quarter transcripts from school, and the grades are in. I still have a 4.0, and I received an A3 for the second time in my three quarters in school. A3 is the highest grade assigned at N.M.T.C.. It is basically a 98 or above. I am very pleased with that, as I work very hard to excel in college. I am very happy with my school experience. I find it very rewarding, granted the long hours and weekends spent doing essays and other assorted homework are a constant strain. I enjoy it though. I have officially made it to the 1/3 point of obtaining an A.A.T degree. I am considering going after an A.A.S. or even spending an additional two years obtaining a bachelors degree(B.A.S). Who knows, I only know I am glad I have chosen to go back to school. I wish I would have done it ten years ago. I also wish I would have done it before I had two toddler girls, and was in the middle of a dramatic career change. Oh well, it makes me appreciate it more. It also makes me appreciate the people who help make it possible, such as Valerie who helps out immensely, and allows me to fulfill my goals. I said it........ My wife is alright. She can be a little flojo at times though. Oh well I still think she is Alright...........;>

Everything is blooming

Almost everything is blooming, and it will continue to be more spectacular throughout the summer. The weather is so sporadic in Georgia. I would dare say that we have had no more than on inch of rain in the last twenty days. That is horrible for the plants and the grass. I don't really care about the later not growing, as I am in charge of cutting a good portion of it. Oh well, the good side of it is there has been a noticeable decrease in the infestation of Japanese beetles that are usually swarming this time of year. The greenhouse is full of things. I have a tendency of taking the variety of plants we take care of for granted. That is, until someone comes over and reminds me that the hard work is worth it. It is very hot for the beginning of June, with temperatures topping out at around 97 for the past three days. I believe a person must be at least partially masochistic to endure the hot southern summer......The girls are doing good, they are enjoying the hot weather. I wish we had more time to let them experience other places and things, but our vacation time is few and far between around here. They are getting older and it will be time to take them to the beach or the desert. Maybe in the fall. Anna starts pre-k this August, which will be an interesting change. It will definitely be a good thing financially. Oh daycare expenses. Cathrine will be starting next year. Hard to believe........The highlight of the week is definitely the fuscia. It is a very interesting plant with complex, highly contrasting blooms. It is a prolific, low maintenance bloomer. A lot of the crepe myrtles are blooming.....Alright I am done.

It's not even summer

It is hard to write about anything other than the greenhouse. I will try to refrain. There are a couple things however that must be displayed. One of my first posts was about my then new Adenium multiflorum ' mombossa'. It is definitely a striking plant with it's swollen cauldex, and evergreen foliage, but we have had the pleasure of watching it bloom. The inflorescence is striking. I have posted a picture of it starting to flower. I have also posted a couple pictures of aloes and a hiawarthia in bloom. There is always something going on in the greenhouse. Everybody is good. I don't really have to much else I have energy to write about. Once again I have been typing for about four hours, finishing the last of a final project due tomorrow in school. This week and then it is final time. Then it is a quarter off for me. I am ready for it!
